Paruppu Urundai Rasam, is quite a popular and very traditional South Indian recipes which have its own place especially in Tamil Nadu homes. This dish is a super protein rich nutritious Indian style soup to enjoy thoroughly with hot piping rice served along with some spiced roasts or fryums. If you are preparing this rasam, you have to get ready first with the lentil balls aka paruppu urundais. Usually these dumplings are prepared with toor dal, but my mom prepares her lentil dumplings with both toordal and channa dal. And her way of preparing this rasam is bit different from the usual one, she just drop the lentil dumplings directly to the boiling rasam. If you dont feel like dropping the dumplings directly to the rasam, just steam cook them and add them. However i follow always my mom's recipe and this paruppu urundai rasam tastes absolutely flavorsome and delicious, and this is my elder son's favourite. He love this nutritious rasam very much with spicy potato toast.

Shrove Monday or Clean Monday (Kathari Deftera) is a Greek public Holiday, usually celebrated by going out for a picnic and also by the custom of kite flying. As with most holidays in Greece, this one also revolves around food. As it is the first day of the Orthodox Lent, no meat, fish or dairy products are consumed. This means that it’s the day of the year to make all these traditional Greek recipes, like taramasalata, dolmades, semolina halva and of course the one thing that holds everything together is the traditional Lagana bread. Lagana bread is a Greek flat bread which is quite similar to Focaccia and this bread is traditionally baked only on Shrove Monday, the first day of Great lent before Easter. Since the fasting calls for no dairy products, this bread is completely vegan. An authentic touch is given to this bread by pressing the dough with fingertips all along the surface of the Lagana, with sesame seeds which is most common topping of this bread.

The Welsh version of harvest cake is made with apples, sultanas and cinnamon, this cake resembles very much like Irish apple cake, which is baked with a layer of fruit in the centre. There are many regional recipes for cakes are baked during the harvest time, with many variations. Some of these cakes were cooked to fuel the workers during the hard manual labour, and some were produced to be enjoyed as part of post-harvesting celebrations. Before industrialisation, harvest time would be more muscle-wrenching, dirty, hot and exhausting; obviously the workers in the fields needed all the calories they could get, and traditional harvest foods went some way to providing these. The Harvest Supper served by the farmer or land-owner after the harvest was completed. The foods was very likely second only to Christmas in terms of what was provided for workers to consume. For the poorest labourers such food was a very welcome change from their usual diet.

For those new to baking, it is very simple, as it uses a packet mix as a base, but if you have a favourite chocolate cake recipe instead, just substitute that store bought cake mix with your own chocolate cake. This fun recipe of cake mix cake will be the talk of your next potluck or family dinner definitely if you serve this ultimate cake for dessert. I piped the top of these hot cross buns with two strips using both flour paste and icing sugar glaze however you can definitely skip the flour paste or else the icing sugar glaze or vice versa. After baking, i simply brushed these buns with a honey glaze to give the sweetness and a super shine.

To be honest, i have been exploring Swedish cuisine recently and all the credits goes to this week's blogging marathon's theme. Yes am running this week's blogging marathon with Swedish Recipes as theme. Though this cuisine is not that much familiar to me, i have baked and cooked few dishes only after i have started blogging, obviously this week's theme pulled me to go and look for many interesting and fantabulous baked dishes from this cuisine. Am kick starting this week's theme with an extremely delicious, dangerously addictive Swedish butter cookies flavoured with almond extract. Almost shaped and baked like Italian biscotties, these baked goodies are called as butter cookies. Yea even i was bit intrigued about the texture of this cookies before baking, but i was completely wrong, i have fallen in love with this cookies. This cookies can be baked longer for crisp cookies and shorter for chewy cookies. I baked mine as crispy cookies.

Its almost going to be spring season here, obviously citrus fruits like oranges, celementines or manadrins have to leave their place in fruit stalls for spring seasonal fruits and vegetables. What you will do if you have sour clementines at home, actually the last batch of clementines i bought before the season ends turned out super sour.Obviously we dont even want to touch them. Since i dont want to trash them , i cant think anything rather than making some marmalade with those clementines. Needless to say anything sour when cooked with sugar will definitely become sweet na, hence this spiced marmalade. Actually i used cinnamon stick to spice this ultimate marmalade, and trust me this marmalade is a super easy recipe. Yes a simple cooking process, if you love citrus marmalade, am sure you will definitely love this fantastic marmalade.
