Quinoa Chakli/Quinoa Murukku

Quinoa, this wholegrain is must in my pantry since i started cooking with these tiny grains. This wholegrains are seriously versatile and you can dish many ultimate dishes out of this grains from snacks to sweets. I have been experimenting different recipes with these grains and one of my recent trial is this crunchy munchy murukku. If you are searching for a different murukku,am sure my today's post will definitely help you to make your savoury snacks for any occasion. I have prepared quinoa flour myself at home after dry roasting those grains and grinded as flour out of it. This homemade quinoa flour makes excellent crunchy and dangerously addictive murukku.

You may wonder why am talking exclusively about quinoa, i have a reason for it.Am running this week's blogging marathon with One ingredient three courses as theme. And i picked Quinoa as the star ingredient for this week's blogging marathon, obviously i dished out three different dishes out this incredible wholegrains. For the first day of this week's blogging marathon, i couldnt stop myself to prepare some crispy murukkus out of this grains for snacking. We just love munching this dangerously addictive murukkus as they came out extremely crunchy. Stay tuned to see what i cooked with this tiny grains aka quinoa.

Quinoa Murukku, Quinoa Spicy Murukku

2cups Rice flour
1cup Quinoa flour
1/2cup Roasted gram flour/Pottukadala maavu
3tbsp Butter(room temperature)
1tbsp Cumin seeds
1/4tsp Asafoetida powder
1/4tsp Ajwain seeds (crushed)
Oil for deep frying

Take the rice flour,quinoa flour,roasted gram flour,butter,cumin seeds,asafoetida powder,salt and ajwain seeds in a large bowl.

Gradually add the water and knead everything as a soft and stiff dough.

Heat the oil for deepfrying in a kadai.

Take a murukku press with star nozzle,pinch a small portion of the dough,drop it into the press and squeeze out as round shaped murukku in a greased flat plate.

Once the oil is hot, drop the squeezed murukku.

Spicy Quinoa Murukku

Fry on both sides until its turns golden brown, drain the excess of oil with paper towel.

Repeat the same process until the dough gets finished.

Fry the murukkus in small batches.

Arrange in an air tight containers and enjoy.

Awesome Priya, pickingup quinoa and on top making a murukku is out of the world thought..those murukkus are simply stunning and looks crispy!

Wow, quinoa flour in murukku, that is a genius idea. Those murukku look so crunchy and delicious.
